The week offers an exceptionally high artistic level with international stars and classical masterpieces. On Tuesday Plácido Domingo takes over Koncertsalen with his rare recital "A Life In Music And Song" together with the soprano Adela Zaharia and the pianist James Vaughan – a unique opportunity to experience the opera legend in an intimate format. In Mogens Dahl Koncertsal the oboe virtuoso Albrecht Mayer presents chamber music by Poulenc, Françaix and Saint-Saëns the same evening, together with the bassoonist Theo Plath and the pianist Fabian Müller.

The Opera House makes a strong showing with two grand productions. Verdi's "Rigoletto" continues its successful run, while "Dialogues des Carmélites" on Friday promises a shattering experience based on real events during the French Revolution. On Tuesday Concerto Copenhagen celebrates the 400th anniversary of Queen Christina in Garnisons Kirke with music from her dramatic journey through Europe.

The Danish symphony orchestras deliver programmes of the highest calibre. On Thursday Aarhus Symfoniorkester presents the explosive combination of Prokofiev's First Piano Concerto and Nielsen's Fifth Symphony in Symfonisk Sal. On Thursday Odense Symfoniorkester explores the deep friendship between Schumann and Brahms in Carl Nielsen Salen, while on Saturday Det Kongelige Teater performs the heart-rending ballet "Giselle" at Gamle Scene.

The week ends beautifully on Sunday with DR Koncertkoret performing Duruflé's beloved Requiem in Koncertsalen – a work that unites Gregorian melodies with French harmonic refinement. In Helsingør, Kammeroperaen presents Verdi's "Otello" in a new staging.

A week that demonstrates the breadth and quality of Danish musical life, with international soloists, classic operas and top-class symphonic music.
