Mørketidskonserten

Description
We head into the polar night with one of our dearest traditions. This year's Mørketidskonsert offers a classical gem, Schubert's Sonata in B flat major, in a brand-new arrangement for chamber orchestra. For over 10 years, Mørketidskonserten in Tromsø domkirke has marked the beginning of the year's darkest months. This is the concert for you who want a pause before what for many is a hectic end to the year - a space for calm and reflection, and not least beautiful music. Franz Schubert composed his Sonata in B flat major only a few months before he died in 1828, aged 31. It would take 10 years before the work was performed, but in retrospect the sonata has found its rightful place in the established canon of the piano repertoire. At this evening's concert we hear Schubert's beautiful sonata arranged for full chamber orchestra by the playing director Henning Kraggerud and the orchestra's own cellist Bernt Simen Lund. Programme: Franz Schubert - Sonata No. 21 in B flat major, D. 960 Arranged for chamber orchestra by Henning Kraggerud and Bernt Simen Lund Performers: Playing director: Henning Kraggerud Chamber orchestra
