Ålesund strykekvartett
Ålesund strykekvartett was established by Ålesund municipality in 1985, and is a professional string quartet with musicians in permanent positions. In addition to the quartet's duties, the musicians take on freelance engagements and teach at the municipal school of music and arts.
Ålesund strykekvartett consists of:
Ai-Ling Chiu, violin
Laurens Weinhold, violin
Linda Bønes, viola
Samuel Skrede, cello
In addition to the quartet's duties, which consist of its own concerts, school concerts, guest appearances and collaborative projects, the musicians each teach in a 30 % position at Ålesund kulturskole. The string quartet is also a member (as section leaders) of Ålesund symfoniorkester, and has duties linked to the regional Møremusikarordninga.
Ålesund strykekvartett received the Ålesund Artist Prize in 2017.
