Ensemble Allegria

Allegria (Ital.) means joy, and it was precisely the joy of playing together that led a group of music students to start the orchestra in 2007. Ensemble Allegria is regarded as one of the country's finest music ensembles, and is known for combining high artistic quality with spontaneity and flexibility. The orchestra consists of 23 permanent musicians and has since its beginning been run by the musicians themselves under the artistic direction of Maria Angelika Carlsen. In addition to its own concert series "NÅ" in Oslo, Ensemble Allegria has played at the major music festivals in Norway and collaborated with several of the world's leading soloists such as Tine Thing Helseth, Martin Fröst, Truls Mørk, Lawrence Power, Kathryn Stott and Benjamin Schmid. The ensemble has released three recordings, two of which were nominated for the Spellemannprisen, and has for several years had close cooperation with Det Norske Solistkor through several concert projects and recordings. In 2018 the orchestra, together with the Solistkoret, received the Diapason d'or de l'année.
