Stavanger Symfoniorkester (SSO) was founded in 1938 and consists of 85 musicians from 23 different nations. SSO is to be an innovative force for symphonic music and has international ambitions. The orchestra is based in Fartein Valen in Stavanger konserthus. SSO was established in 1938, and is today one of Scandinavia's most successful orchestras. In autumn 2012 we moved into a new concert hall of top European class, after the orchestra in recent years has had a strong artistic development and attracted an ever larger audience, both nationally and internationally.
