Grieghallen - Bergen's great hall!
Since 1978 Grieghallen has been a landmark in Bergen, and has housed major events such as the Eurovision Song Contest and the annual Bergen International Festival (Festspillene i Bergen). In addition, Grieghallen is a full-fledged course and conference centre in the heart of the city centre.
Grieghallen is Bergen's cultural great hall, and is today home to Bergen Nasjonale Opera, which produces opera at a high international level, Bergen Filharmoniske Orkester, one of the world's oldest orchestras, and BIT20 Ensemble, one of the Nordic countries' leading contemporary music ensembles.
When Grieghallen was completed in 1978, it replaced Konsertpaleet as the concert hall of Bergen Filharmoniske Orkester and the main venue of the Festival. In 1996 Grieghallen could also present itself as a modern congress centre, and today has meeting rooms totalling 8000 square metres.
