New Year's Gala 2026

Description

Say goodbye to 2026 in style, when DR Symfoniorkestret invites you to the traditional New Year's Gala with bubbles and canapés at DR Koncerthuset. This year the orchestra offers French musical temptations, and the music includes well-known classics by Offenbach, Bizet, Ravel and Gounod, with the soloists Sofie Lund and Laura Helene Hansen. Welcome to DR Symfoniorkestret's traditional New Year's Gala! This year's soloists are two up-and-coming young singing stars making their debut at DR Koncerthuset: the soprano Sofie Lund, Talent of the Year at Copenhagen Opera Festival in 2024, and the dramatic soprano Laura Helene Hansen, known from, among other things, the DR documentary Den næste diva. Among the highlights of the concert will be the hit aria Habanera from Bizet's Carmen, Gounod's sparkling Jewel Song and operatic gems such as Je veux vivre and the beautiful duet Barcarolle from Offenbach, who is also responsible for the iconic Can Can music from Galop Infernal. And of course you can look forward to plenty of the classic New Year sounds that are loved in concert halls around the world. As tradition has it, the foyer is full of bubbles, canapés and genuine New Year atmosphere, and in the festively decorated Koncertsal the orchestra opens up with the most beautiful French musical temptations one could wish for in the very last days of the year.
