DR SymfoniOrkestret
In the company of the 106 classical musicians of DR Symfoniorkestret, everyone can experience great symphonic music - either live in DR Koncerthuset or broadcast in the best sound and picture formats. Since 1925 DR Symfoniorkestret has been DR’s musical flagship, and today the orchestra is of international class with Fabio Luisi as chief conductor.
Every year more than 100.000 music lovers experience DR Symfoniorkestret playing live symphonic music - first and foremost at the orchestra's home ground in DR Koncerthuset, but also at concerts around Denmark. DR Symfoniorkestret's traditional Thursday Concerts (Torsdagskoncerter) are followed every week by 350.000 Danes on radio, TV and online - and millions listen in when the concerts are broadcast internationally.
Every year DR Symfoniorkestret goes on a large-scale international tour, playing in some of the world's finest concert halls. In recent years the orchestra has performed in, among others, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Musikverein in Vienna, the Philharmonie in Berlin and London's Royal Albert Hall - each time with Danish music on the programme. In recent seasons the orchestra has toured the USA, China and Japan with Fabio Luisi at the helm.
