SCHOOL CONCERT: FAURÉ'S REQUIEM

Description

This year's concert with the region's upper secondary school choir presents one of those works in which the choir's beautiful voices will break through even the hardest armour. Please note: This concert has been moved to 11 March. For Fauré, unlike a good many other requiems, does not focus on the day of judgement and human inadequacy. Here death is not portrayed as something frightening, but as a gentle transition to rest. It is precisely this consoling tone that has made the work one of the most beloved and most performed requiems in concert halls and churches. Fauré's music was best known for its refined harmony, lyrical melody and his special ability to create atmospheric, introspective music. In this way, Fauré's Requiem creates a mild and consoling musical space marked by calm and hope. Programme: G. Fauré: Requiem
