Den Jyske Opera / Maskarade in Vordingborg

Description

Copenhagen Phil is of course once again to be found in the orchestra pit when Den Jyske Opera raises the curtain in November on one of the great classics of Danish opera: Carl Nielsen's Maskarade. Carl Nielsen's Maskarade from 1906, based on Ludvig Holberg's comedy from 1724, is regarded as Denmark's national opera. The comic opera leaps humorously and affectionately into the generation gap and is about different worldviews colliding. The calm, cleanliness and propriety of former times are challenged by the will of youth to do things differently. Today, too, generations clash in their understanding of gender, culture and readiness to take offence. Here a generation of Jeronimuses stand shaking their heads at all the young people shouting #metoo, even though they themselves grew up in the anti-authority revolt of the 1970s. There is an eternal gulf between generations, and it will always be "another time…" when you look back on your own youth. Now it is once again youth's turn to take the floor and the helm. NB: Tickets for this performance are bought via Den Jyske Opera. When the tickets go on sale, it will be possible to buy them via their website, which is linked to above via the button that says "Buy Ticket". Organiser: Den Jyske Opera Doors close promptly Programme: Nielsen / Maskarade
