Description
Have a moving experience as Bach's music is joined with modern dance in a performance that explores humanity's relationship with the end of life. Choreography, song and Bach's music form the framework of this performance, which gives voice to people who are face to face with death. The performance is a journey into the special universe that arises with the realisation that the end of life is approaching. Can we come closer to an understanding and an acceptance of the inevitability of death, and can the encounter with death even hold humour and beauty? "It is about death, and yet music, song and dance melt together in an exuberant intoxication of life," wrote Politiken, giving LIGHT - Bach dances five hearts at the premiere in 2021. The performance is based on conversations with people facing death, and it is created in collaboration between Concerto Copenhagen's artistic director Lars-Ulrik Mortensen, the star choreographer Hofesh Shechter and John Fulljames, former head of opera at Det Kongelige Teater. Together with Danish and international soloists, the Baroque orchestra Concerto Copenhagen brings to life Bach's atmospheric music, which embraces eternity, beauty and a heartfelt longing for a better world free of suffering. A performance about that which can hardly be described in words. Bach is sung in German with Danish and English surtitles. In collaboration with Hofesh Schecter Dance Company Recommended from age 14
