SIGURD AND CARL NIELSEN

Description

Carl Nielsen is Denmark's greatest composer, and in this concert Sigurd and Odense Symfoniorkester take the audience on an exciting journey through his life and music. We meet the boy from Funen who grew up and became a world-famous composer, and along the way we hear both the great orchestral works and plenty of beautiful songs. Did Carl Nielsen really play on a woodpile when he was a child? How do you go from a poor farmworker's home with 12 children to becoming Denmark's national composer? What emotions can you hear in Carl Nielsen's music? And is it true that Carl Nielsen knitted diligently when he grew up? Sigurd tells the story so that both children and adults can follow along, while the orchestra gives the music life, and the talented ballet children from Friskolen for Scenekunst bring the story to life in dance. It will be a concert where you can listen, learn and experience how music can tell stories about childhood, life, courage and big dreams.
