"Welcome to the 2022-23 season at Roskilde Musikforening!
We open in August with Opera i Roskilde and KunstKoncerter for Børn out in Roskilde's public spaces.
The concert series is wide-ranging: we will hear Christina Bjørkøe on piano both in a piano recital, first where she performs, among other things, Brahms's Intermezzi Op. 117 & 119, music he composed late in life with heartfelt serenity, and as a duo with Arne Balk-Møller on violin in a programme of Richard Strauss, Anton Webern and Franz Schubert.
Kvintet Nordvind – a woodwind quintet – gives the first performance of the young Norwegian composer Maia Viken alongside Carl Nielsen's canonical work for this line-up and Grażyna Bacewicz, one of the very great Polish composers of the 20th century, who created her music drawing on both French music and Eastern European traditions.
Xenia Kandel Frederiksen on piano plays Ludwig van Beethoven's last three piano sonatas, Op. 109, 110 and 111, together with the Danish premiere of the Finnish composer Cecilia Damström.
There will be a Romantic lieder concert with Vagner/Lundby-Jæger Duo and Renaissance/Baroque/new music with the recorder quartet In Consort.
Johannes Kreisler Trio is one of Germany's finest piano trios. At that concert there will be a first performance of Christoph Schickedanz – violinist in the JKT Trio, set alongside Romantic music by Johannes Brahms and Elfrida Andrée (Sweden), whose musical expression was strongly influenced and inspired by the musical language of the late Brahms.
Henschel Quartet in concert with, among other things, Antonín Dvořák's grand 'American Quartet' and Thomas Agerfeldt Olesen's Quartet No. 8 with the title „Der Schmetterling an meinem Fenster" – The Butterfly at My Window."
