RelevanzEnsemble
RelevanzEnsemble, formed in 2022, is one of Denmark's newest chamber music ensembles, a collective consisting of internationally experienced musicians with roots in the great Danish orchestras, as well as rising stars of the next generation.
In an age of an almost endless consumption of media platforms, RelevanzEnsemble exists to develop the concept of the concert experience. From pure musical entertainment to music focused on relevant issues that society deals with in a complex world. RelevanzEnsemble wants to lead in changing how classical music – both traditional and newly composed – affects society. How? By activating thinking among musicians and listeners both in real time and after the concerts. And through concerts that engage with society's most pressing issues, or by creating concerts that are more present and allow for personal reflection and behavioural change.
The goal of being relevant to as many people as possible requires not only making music presentations of the highest quality, but also interweaving with other prominent artists. Such a collaboration means that performances often feature external guest speakers, actors, dancers, performance artists and composers, which combined with the group's large pool of rotating musicians gives the audience a broad and meaningful experience.
RelevanzEnsemble's artistic director is the cellist and composer Peter Højby Morrison. The group sits under the umbrella of Relevanz Forening and is able to host other organisations that wish to engage or collaborate on specific events that match the association's concept.
