Description
Midsummer concert A magical summer evening of fairy tales, Nordic sounds and musical discoveries. Dreamers’ Circus and Aarhus Symfoniorkester give new life to Carl Nielsen's colourful Aladdin Suite. Carl Nielsen wrote the music for Aladdin in 1919, and the result became one of his most colourful and imaginative works. Here oriental soundscapes, dancing rhythms and folk-music inspiration meet in a musical narrative brimming with adventure, mystery and wanderlust. More than a hundred years after it was created, the music still sounds surprisingly fresh, alive and full of curiosity. Curiosity is precisely what also characterises Dreamers’ Circus. The award-winning trio has delighted audiences around the world with their unique blend of Nordic folk music, virtuosity and boundless musical inventiveness. With respect for tradition and a desire to explore new paths, they create musical encounters that feel both timeless and modern. Together with Aarhus Symfoniorkester and conductor Henrik Vagn Christensen, Dreamers’ Circus unfolds the many colours of the Aladdin Suite in a new and contemporary interpretation. The result is a sensuous concert experience in which Carl Nielsen's masterpiece, Nordic roots and modern musical storytelling power melt together under the Aarhus summer evening sky.
