Two of Denmark's best classical musicians make up a duo - both on stage and privately; the violinist Christina Åstrand and the pianist Per Salo have played together for more than 25 years. The duo gives many concerts both at home and abroad and their
Duo Åstrand/Salo is known for its very varied concerts, in which the great classical works by Beethoven, Brahms and Mozart are programmed together with exciting Danish repertoire and the more unfamiliar music of the 20th century. The two musicians regard the repertoire for violin and piano as a solo form of chamber music, which demands great musical power and technical surplus to realise, since two such different instruments are in play.
many CD recordings bear witness to a special fondness for Danish music.
