Ensemble Lydenskab
Lydenskab's sound is different. The ensemble's instrumental line-up is unconventional in many ways. But it is precisely the unconventional that we see as our strength.
At the same time we also perform in smaller chamber music installations and as soloists, where we play classical music - the traditional kind too. But when we perform under the Lydenskab banner, it is always tied to a wish to bring something new to the concert form.
When everything adds up - when we work so that each instrument and each person has their own place - their own sound in the ensemble and in the community, that is when we function best.
Since Lydenskab's tentative beginnings in 2011 the ensemble has played on several of the country's established stages with large productions in collaboration with Danish as well as international composers, musicians, artists and others. The ensemble's musicians often work on investigating and challenging the role of the classical musician in dramaturgical productions.
In Lydenskab's work on artistic, high-profile projects, cross-disciplinary collaboration is the focus, as is meeting new audience groups.
The ensemble has collaborated with composers as different as Morten Ladehoff, Nikolaj Busk, Line Tjørnhøj, John Frandsen, Mzungu Kichaa, Rasmus Zwicki and Kristina Holgersen. We are constantly seeking to expand our field of collaboration and gladly seek out encounters where genres are broken down and give each other something new. We work across the arts and collaborate with, among others, Martin Hall, Andrea Pellegrini, Ursula Andkjær Olsen, Lilibeth Cuenca Rasmussen and many more.
Lydenskab plays in blacked-out buses, empty shops and blocks of flats, small villages, while also bringing a new kind of communication to the established stages of the classical music festivals, in churches and music societies.
