Pianist Christina Bjørkøe recommends concerts in October

Christina Bjørkøe is one of Denmark's leading pianists, awarded the Wilhelm Hansen Fonden's Honorary Prize. She performs both solo, as a chamber musician and as a soloist with Danish and foreign symphony orchestras. She is an associate professor of piano at Syddansk Musikkonservatorium.
At the age of 19 she was admitted to the Juilliard School in New York. After her years in the USA she completed her studies at Det Kongelige Danske Musikkonservatorium and has since given numerous concerts as a soloist and chamber musician at home and abroad. She has recorded more than 20 CDs and has received, among others, the Victor Borge Music Prize and the P2 Prize.
Right now she is completing her Per Nørgård project, and the double album will be celebrated with a festive concert on 23 January 2027 at Uhørt Festival. At the same time she is preparing for the Beethoven year 2027, in which she will play Beethoven's last three sonatas.
16 October // Stylus Phantasticus - Concerto Copenhagen and Lars Ulrik Mortensen at Østerbro Koncertforening
One of the city's magical concert venues is Unitarernes Hus on Dag Hammarskjölds Allé, where Østerbro Koncertforening invites you to an exciting evening with Concerto Copenhagen and Lars Ulrik Mortensen. Always inspiring to listen to them.
20 October // Den Levende Strygekvartet - Arild Kvartetten and Karen-Lise Mynster
Musikkens Hus, Aalborg. Arild Kvartetten invites you on a guided tour through the quartet's history, and Karen-Lise Mynster puts it into words. It all takes place in the heart of Aalborg.
23 October // Christina Bjørkøe & Friends: Piano works and lieder from the time of Carl Nielsen
A lot of exciting things are happening in Odense, which one hears far too little about here at home in Copenhagen. Right by the station stands the fabulous concert house Odeon. I am looking forward to playing in the conservatory's concert hall there together with the soprano Nina Bols Lundgren and the flourishing young students from SDMK. We play female composers from Carl Nielsen's time, including a premiere by Nanna Liebmann. The concert is part of a large international Carl Nielsen conference and the opening of the new Carl Nielsen Centre in Odense.
23 October // From Nielsen to Now - Athelas and DKDM
If you cannot make it to Odense, Athelas' concert at DKDM's Studio Stage is an excellent alternative - they play Carl Nielsen, among other things.
28 October // Minako Jensen and Heine Skov Jensen at Rude Strand Højskole
Havsalen at Rude Strand Højskole has the most beautiful view over the water towards Mols. Minako Jensen and Heine Skov Jensen play lovely compositions for four hands.
30 October // Phil Closer: Create music in real time - Matias Vestergård
The Conservatory's Concert Hall is the setting for a very exciting experiment. The composer Matias Vestergård creates an instant piano concert together with the audience. It can only be festive.
