Description

Wagner, Szymanowski & Sibelius Helsingborgs Symfoniorkester visits Symfonisk Sal with grand sounds from Wagner and Sibelius. Szymanowski's virtuosic piano concerto completes the evening with energy, poetry and cinematic intensity. Helsingborgs Symfoniorkester is an engaged, curious orchestra with an international outlook, so it is a pleasure to welcome them to Symfonisk Sal, in exchange for Aarhus Symfoniorkester's concert on Saturday 20 March 2027 in Helsingborg. They have put the overture to The Flying Dutchman on the programme: grand, image-creating music in which all the orchestra's sections get to shine. It is complemented by Sibelius's First Symphony: a living, breathing, complex organism that radiates power and strength. Szymanowski's piano concerto (for that is what his Symphony No. 4 is) is playful, energetic, beautiful, fierce and cinematic. Lyrical night music alternates with joyful Dionysian outpourings in a musical landscape that invites exploration. The piano part is placed in the hands of the Swedish pianist Peter Jablonski, whose recordings are released on the biggest record labels. Programme: Richard Wagner / Overture to The Flying Dutchman Karol Szymanowski / Symphony No. 4 (Symphonie concertante) for piano and orchestra Jean Sibelius / Symphony No. 1
