Eskær Trioen
Eskær Trioen, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2019, is one of Denmark's most experienced and artistically cohesive chamber ensembles and has enjoyed a successful concert career at home and abroad for more than 25 years.
The trio is known for its compelling interplay and moves freely through the whole trio literature, from the oldest works to new compositions dedicated to them.
The trio in its day won 1st prize in P2's Chamber Music Competition and 2nd prize in the Nordic Chamber Music Competition in 1996. They have since won prizes in several international chamber music competitions. They have had an exceptionally active concert career and performed in most European countries, including places such as the famous Concertgebouw in Amsterdam as well as Berlin and Paris. The trio has also performed on several other continents and in 2018 went on a major tour of China.
On the occasion of Beethoven's 250th anniversary (2020) the trio were soloists in Beethoven's Triple Concerto several times, including with Sønderjyllands Symfoniorkester.
Eskær Trioen has received a long list of honours and grants such as Spies Fondens Musikpris, Van Hauen Legatet and Gurli og Poul Madsens Legat. The trio also has several prize-winning CD recordings behind it, including Brahms’ complete piano trios. All releases have won international as well as national critical acclaim and have won prizes such as the P2 prize for “Classical CD of the Year” and “Chamber Music Release of the Year” as well as being named “CD of the month” in the international music magazine “The Strad”.
Eskær Trioen occasionally expands the ensemble to a piano quartet with, among others, the violist and professor Ettore Causa, principal clarinettist Lee Morgan and the bandoneonist Paolo Russo.
