A classical choir with fixed routines and tried-and-tested concepts? Think again. Mogens Dahl Kammerkor is a unique international choral project that breaks with the usual, both artistically and organisationally. ARTISTICALLY FOUNDED IN THE NORDIC A CAPPELLA TRADITION Mogens Dahl Kammerkor's foremost aim is to influence the future agenda for vocal music in the Nordic countries. The repertoire is characterised above all by a love of the Nordic choral sound and of the Nordic tone of language. Why do the Nordic region's leading composers love writing new music for the ensemble? One reason may be that on its international tours to, among other places, Berlin, Halle, Stockholm, Bergen and Reykjavik the choir has been able to demonstrate its delicate grasp of contemporary vocal art. For example, Mogens Dahl Kammerkor gave the first performance of Nordic Mass by Sven-David Sandström at Festspillene i Bergen in 2014, and in 2015 gave the world premiere of the same composer's 'The Passion of St. John' at the Konzerthaus Berlin. A CROSS-BORDER ENSEMBLE The conductor Mogens Dahl has strived to create a flexible ensemble that dares and is able to break new ground in the world of vocal music. A pool of 40 young singers from near and far forms the backbone of the choir, which from the very beginning in 2005 has caused a stir with its innovative concert, festival and CD projects. Collaboration partners such as Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment (London), Brooklyn Rider (New York) and Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen testify to the ensemble's artistic range and international outlook.
