Kringkastingsorkestret
Kringkastingsorkestret is the orchestra of the whole country, with a very special place in the hearts of music-loving Norwegians. With their highly versatile repertoire they are probably the orchestra you hear most often - on TV, radio or the internet - and at all the concerts, whether in NRK's Store studio or in a concert hall near you.
Kringkastingsorkestret is an orchestra at a high international level. At the same time it is a flexible orchestra, playing everything from the symphonic repertoire and contemporary music to pop, rock, jazz and folk music. Among last year's collaboration partners we can mention Kaizers Orchestra, Mari Boine, Jarle Bernhoft, Diamanda Galàs, René Fleming, Andrew Manze, Anna Netrebko, Gregory Porter and others. Every single year Kringkastingsorkestret plays with the big stars at the Nobel concert, which is broadcast to millions of viewers worldwide.
The orchestra today is filled with the best among classical instrumentalists, musicians who value versatility and playfulness highly, and with a strong reluctance to divide music into pigeonholes. All music is to be performed with the same high quality and commitment.
