Ensemble Hermes
Ensemble Hermes is an Aarhus-based musicians' collective of seven professional string players who have specialised in creating unconventional concert projects that connect music with other art forms through strong themes and concepts. We play without a conductor as a rule and always cultivate a listening, chamber-music approach to the music. By thus reducing the distance between music and musicians, our aim, through greater personal engagement, is to evoke a deeper understanding of the music and to transform it into intense concert experiences.
At the invitation of Musikhuset Aarhus, Ensemble Hermes has become Artist in Residence there for the period from mid-2025 to mid-2027. This means that we will often be found in their season programme, as with the support of Musikhuset we develop and carry out a number of concerts and performances for their stages.
We create concerts that, through a creative approach to concert formats, choice of repertoire and concert venues, form a coherent narrative and give the audience the chance to experience classical music in new ways. By prioritising creativity and attention to detail in every aspect, from programme planning and dress to collaborations and stage design, the ensemble demonstrates a commitment to artistic innovation.
