Det danske Ungdomsensemble DUEN is a creative musical forum for string talents aged 17-27. DUEN plays in many different line-ups, and the repertoire ranges from the great classics to newly written music. The ensemble plays together with top professional classical soloists and also collaborates with musicians from other genres. Since 2012 DUEN has, among other things, played at the Minister for Ecclesiastical Affairs' Christmas Concert in Holmens Kirke, Klassiske Dage in Holstebro (with Viktoria Mullova, Michala Petri, Håkan Hardenberger and Janne Thomsen), STRØM festival in Copenhagen (with Mike Sheridan), Schubertiaden in Roskilde, CHART Art Fair at Charlottenborg, KlubRå at Roskilde Festival, been on tour in China and the Netherlands, made TV and recorded CDs. DUEN consists of about 25 young, talented string players with the classical as its core repertoire. At the helm are conductor and artistic director Morten Ryelund, who makes sure that both the energy and the quality are high. Most of DUEN's members are students at the country's classical conservatoires and have been selected after an audition. Each member has a fixed place in the ensemble for two years. A hallmark of the young string players is an infectious joy of playing and a high technical level.
